Pixel 2 on Rogers in Canada, though I had the same problem with my pixel one. I have hundreds if not thousands of sms conversations archived as I use the main sms screen as a todo list for work. What happens in frequently I end up with dozens of text threads coming out of archive for no discernible reason? Is the system just not built to handle this many texts being kept? Thanks in advance!

I have upwards of 60k messages on mine with project fi, and I started having issues with a few people on iPhones on ATT. I took a backup, then deleted a bunch of old threads. I still have 55k+, but I haven't noticed any strange behavior, so I do wonder if that was part of the issue.

What do you mean by "coming out of archive"? Like being moved back to the main list?

That's exactly it. A few dozen messages just randomly show back up on my main page. There are a few that are regulars but most are just random.

I didn't think archiving messages did anything special with them, other than hiding them from the main list.
