Moto has seen its best days - what's your next phone?
« on: April 24, 2018, 07:34:41 AM »
I came into the Moto game late - last year with a Moto G4 for $110. I'm happy with the OS, but now having issues with headphone jack.I'm not hearing good things about Moto - > Lenovo...I'm a budget shopper. I got 1.5 years on a LG G3 - best phone ever at $200, but unfortunately LG has hardware issues. And almost 2 years (off and on) on a $120 rooted & refurb Galaxy S5. It's about dead, but it's obvious that Samsung has awesome hardware, but shit software.Next phone needs 3, maybe 4 GB ram. Switchable batteries are a thing of the past, so I'll take something that is at least replaceable with a screwdriver.

I'm probably going for the Nokia 6.1 next time around.

Nokia is my current upgrade plan. Still enjoying my G5 Plus for now, so it might be a bit.

Yeah, me too. G5 plus is punching way above its pay grade still. People keep clamoring for an update to oreo, but in reality this device is doing everything I need. Happy with going another year with it.

Everytime I think about upgrading I ask myself what I'm getting if I upgrade, and it's really only a better camera. Side by side to my wife's S8+ its just as snappy.

Nokia really needs to get this bootloader unlock thing sorted out otherwise i'd agree with you.

If the phone gets popular enough, someone will crack it sooner or later, regardless of whether they release an in-house unlock. I like Root, but it's about 7th or 8th on my list of wants in a phone at this point in Android's evolution.

If Nokia would bring the Nokia 7 Plus to the USA, it would be a great phone for folks that like the Moto G series but don't like the lack of software updates and bug fixes like the camera crashing on the G5 Plus.
