I just realized we don't have a thread for this. The HTC-built Nexus 9 came out last November for the US and was launched with Android Lollipop.  Here are its specs:

  • 8MP rear camera 1.6MP front camera
  • 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 Dual Denver @ 2.3GHz CPU
  • Quad-band GSM, CDMA, Penta-band HSPA, LTE
  • Micro-USB 2.0
  • 3.5mm audio

Software Downloads / Office Apps for Android?
« on: September 18, 2015, 10:47:03 AM »
There are times when we really find ourselves in need of editing documents or making powerpoint presentations in a pinch. What better way to do this than doing it right at your phone?

For me, I use the Polaris Office and the one by Mobi systems (which is paid). How about you?

Software Downloads / Good (and free) RPGs for Android
« on: September 18, 2015, 02:50:35 AM »
Are there any good (and free) RPGs to play for Android? So far, I've tried the Zenonia series and it's working great so far, but I'd prefer something with slightly better graphics (or rather, something more 3D). What games would you guys recommend?

Damn it. I wish I found out about this BEFORE my Nexus 6 got stolen. Ah well.

Smart Watch (All Models) / Re: Games

Games on the Apple Watch? That'd be kind of hard, wouldn't it? There'd really be no point in it, in my opinion.  The screen is to small and you'd be tired playing a game with your wrist up to your point of view the entire time, unless you take it off and hold it like a phone... which is a no.

Looking great. If this wasn't based so much on the Windows app market, I would've gotten it without a second thought. I heard it's really, really good for artwork and for drawing, so I'd really love to try using it.

Introduce yourself / Re: How can we improve?

Well, we definitely need more people, that's for sure. Also, I think it's unnecessary to have a board for every single phone model out there? In my opinion, one big category per company should be enough, and we should just have sub categories under that instead of having them all as boards, thereby shortening the list on the forum homepage. That's just me, though.

Software Downloads / Re: How often do you download apps and games?
« on: September 16, 2015, 02:19:23 PM »
I actually download games a lot. I think, as an estimate, I download a new one every week? They don't last long with me, though. Once it's reached a while and I find that the game bores me already, I uninstall it right away and make room for a new one.

Tablets (All Models) / Re: Best Browser for iPad

I'm personally a big fan of Chrome so I use it for the iPad, as well. I've never actually touched the built in browser. I find it a bit slow for my tastes. I may just be biased for Chrome, though. Haha. It's also what I use on my Android devices.

I currently use Spotify mainly because my current mobile plan comes with free use of Spotify. Other than that, I just download songs in mp3 format and put them in my phone. That way I can still listen even without internet.

Tablets (All Models) / Re: Nexus 7 First Gen VS Second Gen?
« on: September 16, 2015, 01:01:27 PM »
I'm not sure personally since I bought the 2nd gen right off the bat, but from the reviews I saw (which made me get the 2nd gen over the 1st gen even if it was more expensive), the 2nd gen is definitely better. I still use it mainly for school work and gaming, and performance-wise, it's great. I do get heat-up issues, though, but it hasn't exactly crashed from overheating. Not yet anyway.

News and Rumors / Re: Phone vs laptop
« on: September 16, 2015, 12:14:14 PM »
This is the reason why I choose laptop for my work which involves a lot of typing. I tried using a bluetooth keyboard for my phone. It turned out to be a waste of money since it was even harder to type with a keyboard that small. Nothing beats a laptop or computer in typing up files. Yes, there are keyboards for phones and tablets but you better buy the normal sized ones. The one I bought is a mini keyboard so typing in it is pretty difficult.
Hrm, I actually have a bluetooth keyboard for my Nexus 7, and it's not that bad. I managed to find one that's practically the same size as the keyboard of a small netbook, so it's not that hard to type. Right now, it's what I use whenever I'm really in a pinch and need to type up a document on my phone (especially if I didn't bring my laptop along. My laptop's kind of huge). Of course, it's weird to bring out a keyboard and set it on your phone when you're in, let's say, the train. Ha ha.

Tablets (All Models) / Re: Good tablet?

I have the Nexus 7 2013 edition (I got it on discount during Christmas 2 years ago at $110) and it's a really good tablet. Sturdy, fast and it can do a lot given its memory. My only problem with it is the inability to use an SD card, but nothing a little app can't fix to make it connect to the PC. It does heat up a bit, but then again, so does an iPad. Is it like an iPad? Definitely not. Is it worth it? Yes.

Software Downloads / Good note-taking app?
« on: September 13, 2015, 06:44:12 PM »
I've been looking for a good note-taking app for a while now but haven't really settled on anything yet. Any suggestions?

So far I've tried Evernote (I didn't like the fact that it heavily relied on your Evernote account and how limited it was unless I go with the paid version), Google Keep (having troubles with syncing) and OneNote (what I'm using so far. It's OK but I'm looking for more features for Android. The features on the iOS version seem better, though).

For the browsing websites issue, I think all it needs is a little getting used to? Maybe at the first month or so of having a smartphone, it took me a while getting used to browsing websites with all the zooming in and whatnot, but nowadays it's become such a common thing that I'm no longer bothered about it. I practically browse websites on my phone and on the PC/laptop at practically the same intervals.

Laptops you just can't bring all the time, but the one thing smartphones won't be able to replace for it in my opinion would be typing up documents. You really need a fully functional keyboard for that, I think.
